Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and a drizzle of olive oil, mixing until well-coated.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the egg, flour, hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Pound chicken to an even thickness, cut in half, dip into egg mixture then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket and place chicken pieces in a single layer. Cook for 12-16 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Mix mayonnaise and additional hot sauce to make the spicy mayo.
  7. Assemble the sandwich with spicy mayo on the buns, crispy chicken, and any additional toppings.
