For the Tofu Bites
  • 14 ounces Extra-Firm Tofu Drain and press well for optimal texture.
  • 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil Can substitute with avocado oil.
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Aminos (or Soy Sauce) Use gluten-free soy sauce if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar White vinegar can be a great substitute.
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning Essential for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika Adds color and a warm smokiness.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Adds sharp heat.
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup (or Honey) Honey is a non-vegan alternative.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Air Fryer
  • Non-stick skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by draining the extra-firm tofu and pressing it for at least 10 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil, coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, ground black pepper, and maple syrup. Whisk until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Gently toss the torn tofu chunks in the marinade, ensuring each piece is evenly coated. Let the flavors soak in for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for baking, set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C), or heat oil in a non-stick skillet for pan-frying.
  5. Spread the marinated tofu chunks on a lined baking sheet if baking, and bake for 30 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. For air frying, arrange the tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes, shaking halfway.
  7. If pan-frying, cook the tofu in the hot skillet for about 7 minutes, turning occasionally.
  8. Remove from heat, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.
