Cooking Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Whisk until smooth.
- Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag and pour half of the marinade over them. Seal and massage to coat evenly. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Remove the chicken from the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Arrange the marinated chicken on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through and juices run clear.
- While baking, pour reserved marinade into a saucepan and bring to a boil, then simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Brush the thickened marinade over the cooked chicken and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Let the chicken rest briefly, then slice and serve with jasmine rice and stir-fried vegetables.
- Enjoy your homemade Char Siu Chicken!

Notes
Marinate overnight for maximum flavor and stick to chicken thighs for juiciness. Monitor broiling to avoid burning.
