Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Fried Shallots: Slice the shallots thinly and toss them lightly in flour. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, add the shallots, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
  2. Blanch the Green Beans: Boil salted water, add green beans, and blanch for 3-4 minutes. Transfer to an ice bath to maintain crispness, then drain.
  3. Make the Creamy Mushroom Sauce: In a skillet, melt butter or heat oil, add sliced mushrooms, and sauté for 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, season, pour in heavy cream, and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Mix in grated Parmesan.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Preheat oven to 375°F. Layer blanched green beans in a casserole dish, pour sauce over, sprinkle fried shallots and additional Parmesan on top.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 7-10 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
