For the Topping
  • 1 cup Miniature Marshmallows Substitution: Omit marshmallows for traditional candied yams.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drain the canned yams thoroughly and arrange them in the bottom of an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  3. Slice the butter into small pieces and distribute them evenly over the yams.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle it evenly over the buttered yams.
  5. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle the miniature marshmallows on top of the yams.
  7. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown and slightly puffed up.
