For the Toppings

  • 4 slices Thick Cut Bacon
  • 1 cup Tomatoes Sliced.

For the Onion Strings
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs

Method
 

Steps
  1. Prepare Panade: Tear the bread and combine it with the BBQ sauce, garlic, chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mash until a chunky paste forms.
  2. Mix Meat: Fold in the ground chuck gently into the panade until combined. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  3. Shape Patties: Divide the mixture and shape it into larger-than-bun patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  4. Chill Patties: Refrigerate the shaped patties for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. Cook Burgers (Grill): Preheat grill to medium-high, cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  6. Cook Burgers (Stovetop): Heat skillet, cook patties for 3-4 minutes, flip, brush with BBQ sauce, cover and cook until done.
  7. Toast Buns: Slice and toast the hamburger buns for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Assemble: Add cheese to patties, place on buns, and top with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion strings.
