Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your baking pan and all ingredients.
- In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium-high heat for 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Combine ricotta cheese, egg, parmesan cheese, parsley, and basil in a mixing bowl. Stir until smooth.
- Spread ¼ cup of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Place three oven-ready lasagna noodles on top of the marinara, followed by ¼ of the ricotta mixture, ¼ of the sausage, ½ cup marinara, and shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layering process: noodles, ricotta, sausage, marinara, and cheese for three total layers.
- Spread the last of the marinara sauce on top and cover tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil, add sliced fresh mozzarella on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Let the lasagna rest for 20-25 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
