- Heat the Base: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of canola oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat until the butter is melted and bubbling. This should take about 2 minutes.
- Sauté the Vegetables: Add 1 medium finely chopped onion, 1 medium finely chopped green bell pepper, and 2-3 chopped celery stalks to the skillet. Sauté these vegetables for 10-12 minutes until they soften and turn translucent.

- Create the Sauce: Pour in 1 can (15 ounces) of tomato sauce, 1 cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer uncovered for 8-10 minutes.
- Cook the Shrimp: Carefully add 1½ pounds of peeled and deveined large shrimp to the simmering sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes until shrimp turn pink and firm.
- Season to Taste: Remove the bay leaf and season the dish with Tabasco sauce, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir well to combine.
