  • 1 block Silken Tofu Use fresh for best texture.
For the Sauce
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, minced Add raw for stronger flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce Opt for tamari to keep it gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp Black Vinegar Substitute with rice wine vinegar if needed.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Skip for a lighter version.
  • 1 tbsp Vegetarian Oyster Sauce Mushroom sauce is a great vegan alternative.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 tbsp Chili Oil Optional for spiciness.
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Spring Onions For garnish.
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Coriander Optional.

Preparation Steps
  1. Drain excess water from the silken tofu and let it rest briefly on paper towels.
  2. Slice the tofu into ½ to 1-inch thick pieces and arrange on a plate.
  3. In a bowl, mix minced garlic, soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, vegetarian oyster sauce, and sugar. Optionally add chili oil.
  4. Prepare a steamer with boiling water and place the plate of tofu above the water.
  5. Steam for 8-10 minutes until heated through but still soft.
  6. Remove the plate from the steamer, drain any excess liquid, and pour the sauce over the tofu.
  7. Garnish with spring onions and cilantro before serving.
